Love this show
I was at this show and it was a great way to start the tour. The band was on fire. The show really had a lot of energy, which is captured on this aud.

My First Show...Too!
Thanx Bob and Charlie. Very fine aud recording. I got the tapes within a year of the show. Possibly the same source. They are still with me! This sounds so much better. A very punchy show, lots of powerful moments in tunes like Candyman. I think the LLR is overlooked, an extremely good version. Samson has a nice Bob driven slide jam. He is having fun on the vocals, "Get back Truckin' on"... The Other One is very patient and a nice length for the 80's. It almost sounds as if Brent is playing a piano. SSDD really stretches. A very long show to boot, so the quick out of an encore is not a problem.
Reading reviews from other posts, it's amazing how many of us were first timers. I remember the day being gorgeous, though I remember lots of wind, making the GGO Tournament difficult. Magnificent campus and the Dead's last show in this hallowed basketball arena. I was supposed to hitch to the Norfolk show but couldn't stand to miss this one. Thanx to the Dude in the wheelchair who let me hang out until he was ready to sell hix 2 xtras. I'm still loving this music and held Dead tix when Jerry died. Thanx to Steve for turning me on and being at this show.
I opened my radio show (KHSU) last night with China/Rider and Space thru Sugar Mags. Peace

Listen to Brent's scat on Little Red Rooster!
Thanks Charlie & Bob! Piano-driven Other One. Jerry & Phil swapped sides where they would remain (for Phil, until this day) much to the surprise of Candice. Bob made an apology the next night. This was my third show, & I saw Jerry dance more this night than for any other show that I saw including (12.15.86 & 10.9.89)
I rarely review shows, but this is one of my favorites of all time.
